The TMA of Lake Cook has been actively involved in Cook and Lake Counties since 1989 to help improve employees commute by working with businesses, communities, transportation agencies and elected officials. Some of our activities and success stories include:
Shuttle Bug Service
The TMA works collaboratively with Pace Bus and Metra Commuter Rail in the operation of the successful Shuttle Bug service. Shuttle Bug provides last mile connections accessing to six Metra stations and one CTA station, and more than 30 area employers on 13 Pace routes and 1000 daily trips.
The TMA provides timely updates on local and regional highway construction projects impacting traffic, hosts an annual Highway Construction Meeting and works with agencies such as the Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois Tollway, Cook and Lake Counties, and Wisconsin Department of Transportation. In 2017, the TMA detailed 83 major construction projects.
Over the years the TMA has worked actively with communities, elected officials, businesses and other groups to improve our highways, reduce congestion and improve travel safety. Current projects include the Deerfield Road Corridor and the Lake Cook Corridor Study.
The TMA has strategically aligned with regional and local groups for better planning and increased transportation funding including the RTA’s Regional Transit Strategic Plan, Lake County Transportation Alliance, Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning On To 2050 Comprehensive Plan, Northwest Municipal Conference and others.
The TMA supports environmental initiatives to improve the quality of life in the Northern Suburbs.
